Michael Collins Plaque

General Michael Collins was an Irish patriot, guerrilla leader, soldier and politician who fought against British rule.  Born in Clonakilty West Cork Collins fought in the GPO in the 1916 Easter Rising and went on to lead Irelands fight for freedom from British rule.

Collins was sent by De Valera to negotiate the treaty with Britain that would lead to British withdrawal from the 26 counties.  This resulted in a split between pro and anti treaty factions and resulted in a bitter civil war.  Collins was killed in an ambush in Beal na Blath on 22nd August 1922.

This Michael Collins Bronze Figure is handmade by Druid Craft in our studios in Cork.
